THE DRAGON'S BACK - Downhill
(includes a part of Stage 6 of the Hong Kong Trail)

The Dragon’s Back is the dramatic end to the Hong Kong trail and starts with a short, but reasonably steep, climb along dirt and boulder paths
from Shek O Road to Shek O Peak on the D’Aguilar Peninsula at the southeastern corner of Hong Kong Island.

Having reached the ridge top, you are able to enjoy stunning view over the sea, looking out towards Waglan Island, Tung Lung Chau Island and
Joss House Bay. Shek O beach and golf course lie directly below. There are also magnificent views over Tai Tam Bay to the west. The path
northwards along the ridge is breathtaking. The gentle up-and-down terrain has given the path its name - The Dragon's Back.

Farther on, the trail drops down to a level contour path around Mount Collinson and then follows a narrow catchwater path. While we will be in
a quiet shaded environment, we will also get an occasional glimpse of the big city below…

After a brief rest in the shade of a pavilion to soak in the coastal view, we tackle a long flight of stairs for the final descent to our final
destination: The beach at Big Wave Bay.

There should be time for a cold refreshment and, perhaps, a light lunch before we head back to the city. However, you are also welcome to
end the outing with a swim, should you so prefer....
