One could argue that the Wilson Trail is the most interesting of our 4 long distance trails. Where the MacLehose generally skirts any signs of civilization, the Wilson Trail combines spectacular landscapes with a glimpse of Hong Kong village life.
The Eastern Ridge is, probably, the "forgotten" section of the Wilson Trail. It is nevertheless a very pretty and interesting hike. From the new dormitory towns of Tseung Kwan O we follow a gently climbing stone path through woodlands and the occasional orchard along the Po Lam Stream to connect with the Wilson Trail proper.
Generally, the "gently climbing theme" continues as we conquer the dirt trails over Black Hill and Chiu Keng Shan while enjoying spectacular views over Joss Bay and Victoria Harbour.
An optional detour will take you up and down The Devil's Peak, before we conclude the walk at the picturesque traditional fishing village of Lei Yue Mun.
Those staying on Hong Kong island might be interested in finishing the outing by taking a small ferry across the harbour from Lei Yue Mun to Sai Wan Ho.
